About Gwydir Shire
The Gwydir Shire Council area consists of Two main Townships Bingara and Warialda and a number of smaller villages including Cobbadah, Coolatai, Croppa Creek, Gravesend, North Star, Upper Horton, and Warialda Rail.
The Shire's economy relies mostly on the agricultural industry followed by related services, light industrial and retail. Tourism is developing as a larger portion of the economy.
Gwydir area agricultural residents are starting to diversify from their main income source of beef, sheep and cropping and expanding into aquaculture, olives and seed oils such as sunflower and linseed.
As times and demand change, this shire is becoming more focused on manufacturing and tourism.
